ANCIENT CONVENT OF LA MERCED
It is of medieval origin. The Renaissance access façade is preserved. Admiring the façade, you can observe two pilasters, some shields and angels that accompany to a niche nowadays empty. It was realized in 1546 according to the trace of Domingo de Plasencia, a quarryman employed from 1537 to 1563 at numerous works in the city. THE TOWN HALL
The Town Hall was designed by Alfonso Ortiz de la Jara. It presents a double gallery, having each one three arches, joined by a double one with major dimensions. Although it was built in the last third of the XVIIth century, it presents a certain characteristic of the Italian Renaissance. The south area, that from the street of Alamo to the arch of Selgas street, was finished in 1678 and was for a long time the jail of the city. CALVARY
The collection of hermitages in Lorca is one of the region’s most outstanding, both for its antiquity as for its configuration. Planned by the Franciscans in the early XVIth century, it went from Saint Francisco’s door to a closed hill composing a copy of Jerusalem’s Way of sorrows or ‘Vía Dolorosa’. This allowed a substitutive pilgrimage to those Christians who couldn’t travel to the Holy Land. CHAPEL OF ROSARIO
With the establishment of the Order of Santo Domingo in the middle of the XVIth century, the devotion is expanded to the Rosary and so a Confraternity is established. At the beginning of the XVIIIth century it begins the construction of an attached chapel to the former one, dedicated to Santo Domingo. In 1715 its vaults were closed, but it does not conclude even about 1740 with the front of Pedro Bravo Morata`s stone. ALBURQUERQUE’S HOUSE
In the personal civil architecture field we must highlight this house that arose in the second half of the XVIIth century. It was greatly remodelled in the XIXth century, but we can still notice the upper arch galleries are still of view, the facade with columns and a simple entablature and a coat of arms surrounded by a XIX century fruit wreath that replaced another of similar characteristics.
