Distance: 16 kilometres
Difficulty: Medium
Duration: 4-5 hours
Route: It offers
a wide panoramic of the Mountain 'Sierra
del Pericay' and the 'Cañón
del Luchena'.
Description of the route:
From the youth hostel 'Casa Iglesias'
we start off in the direction of '
La Parroquia' where to about 500 metres
approximately, we turn aside ourselves
towards the forest track that will
take until the crossing of 'La Hoya
del Navajo'.
Leaving it to our right, we continue
our route and we can contemplate an
ample pine of pine with an underbrush
dominated by ‘romero’,
aliaga, steppe, esparto, juniper,’negrosabina’
hawthorn and lentisco. In addition
we can distinguish coscojos and oaks.
As we advance, from this situation
we can enjoy a beautiful panoramic
of the Mountain ' Sierra del Pericay
and the 'Cambrón de Luchena'.
By a footpath we will descend to
the 'Ojos de Luchena', where we can
appreciate the affluence of water
of the brook and numerous barbels
in its volume. Related with the fauna
we can find ‘arrui’, the
common squirrel, the partridge and
small typical birds of the Mediterranean
forest.
Next, our route takes us by the ascending
channel of the river until the marsh
of Valdeinfierno. This part of the
river is totally dry, but the section
runs by an impressive place. The landscape
is exceptionally escarped and rustic,
with completely vertical cavities,
pinnacles and walls of more than 100
metres of height. The humid zone is
inhabited with typical plants of shore
such as ‘tarays’, black
poplars, reeds or brambles. The pulses
also abound and other frequent plants
like steppe, ‘romero’,
brush or mosquera grass. The steep
slopes are colonized mainly by black
sabinas, lentiscos, and hawthorns.
Next to the marsh we observed ‘cojinos
of nun’, arnacho and zamarilla.
We accede to our destination by stairs
with more than 250 steps.
