The municipal territory enlarges
from the north to the south along 100 kilometres
and offers an amazing and varied landscape
of peaks of the mountainous systems from the
interior to the sea; of barren and rustic
High Earth, where cereals and grapevine between
very small rural communities are cultivated,
to the warm and refreshing coves and beaches
of Calnegre, happening through the valley
of the Guadalentín and its fertile
orchard of fruit trees and vegetables; without
forgetting natural places great biological

the Almenara, Carrascoy, Torrecilla and Tercia,
with a great variety of fauna and flora, as
well as the surroundings of marshes of Puentes
and Valdeinfierno and the rivers Vélez
and Luchena with its respective humedales.
In this rural setting there
are more than 200 rural areas, villages,
farmhouses and places, showing such
of them a particular way of life, far away

The artistic inheritance
preserved in Lorca deputations and their customs

us that these lands were inhabited from some
distant past, and so we find ‘el Cerro

It is important to mention the remains of
Culture of Argar. A wide variety of architectural

Teresa, La Hoya, El Pradico, El Consejero,
Villarreal, Santa Gertrudis or Los Navarros

together with ancient dances and popular music.
In the same way, we find remains of old medieval
castles such as Xiquena, Tirieza, Felí,
Puentes or Amír which pointed to the
christian-nazarian frontier. All these historical
remains are the evidence of a life pointed
to the search of water.
The gastronomy
of these lands makes greater the products
